CAMP GREENWOOD LAKE

Providing a place where children ages 8 to 14 can experience nature, sleep in cabins, cook meals, swim, canoe, play games, make handicrafts, listen to storytellers, and sing, sing, sing!

Camp Greenwood Lake is named after the song by Brendan Taaffe, which our camp counselors love to sing. The name reminds us that camp is what and where you make it, not necessarily a place.

Together we sing, tell stories, create beautiful projects, swim, canoe, build bonfires, joke, play games, and get to know one another both in groups and as a whole. Campers do activities with their counselors in age groups of 5 to 10 children: they eat wholesome and delicious meals with their groups, go on hiking and canoeing adventures together, and create a family away from home that results in friendships that last for years to come.

What to Expect

The sun is up, the counselors and staff gather to greet the day with song and the sleepy campers open their eyes to the sound. Each day brings new activities such as plays and skits, hiking, sports, swimming, painting, storytelling, lots of singing and many opportunities to be with friends, quietly experience nature, and to expand imagination through hands-on activities and crafts. The day is framed by three wholesome meals, time for quiet rest after lunch, and a story by candlelight in the evening to draw the day to a close.

The joy and laughter, the challenge of learning and sharing together creates a community experience at camp that nurtures the hearts and minds of each child and stays with them through the year.
