ADVENTURE CAMPS
LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We acknowledge that our camps span across the occupied territories of the Bodwéwadmi (Potawatomi), Kaskaskia, Peoria, Mohican, Ho-de-no-sau-nee-ga (Haudenosaunee), Munsee Lenape, Nentego (Nanticoke), Lənape Haki-nk (Lenni-Lenape), Očhéthi Šakówiŋ, Myaamia, Kiikaapoi (Kickapoo), Hoocąk (Ho-Chunk), oθaakiiwaki‧hina‧ki (Sauk) & Meškwahki·aša·hina (Fox) people, ᏣᎳᎫᏪᏘᏱ Tsalaguwetiyi (Cherokee, East), and S’atsoyaha (Yuchi), who have stewarded this land for generations. While we are grateful to be able to walk, swim, canoe, play and contemplate on these lands, rivers, and lakes, we recognize these people and honor our responsibility to learn more about them (past, present and future), and share what we have learned. There have always been indigenous peoples in the spaces we call home, and there always will be.
This likewise calls us to commit to continuing to learn how to be better stewards or guests of the land we inhabit. We are committed to leaving no trace on whatever land we occupy and doing what we can to preserve and respect it. We encourage you to look at the below map to find out the history of the land you may know as your home.
