Quetzalli Núñez Luna
Counselor - Camp Greenwood Lake - 2024
Quetzalli Núñez Luna is entering her senior year this fall at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy. Her academic journey began at the Waldorf School of DuPage, where she completed her elementary and middle school education. Driven by a passion for science and a dream of conducting genetic research, Quetzalli is fully immersed in her studies and actively involved in various student organizations.
Outside of her academic pursuits, Quetzalli is a talented painter and an avid reader of dystopian novels. Her favorite pastimes include cooking and baking while binge-watching shows on Netflix. She also loves attending summer camps, a passion that began in sixth grade. Her favorite is a canoeing camp, which she has attended for the past four years. She loves this camp because it allows her to reconnect with nature, bond with friends around the campfire, and enjoy the thrill of navigating a wild river by canoe.
This summer, Quetzalli is advancing her passion for science and medicine through an internship at the University of Illinois Chicago Cancer Research Center, where she is gaining invaluable experience and knowledge in graduate-level research. Additionally, she is sharing her love for camping with younger campers as a camp counselor, bringing over five years of experience and her love for storytelling and campfire songs to inspire others.
